Marketers, Stop Overlooking These 3 Things In 2019

No matter how good your social media marketing is you’re probably overlooking something. Whether you’re completely blind to it or just haven’t got around to implementing it there are ways you could be getting more from social media in 2019. In this post we outline three of the most overlooked aspects of social media and content marketing which could help take your marketing to the next level.

Instagram Copy

You’ve started using more videos on Instagram. You’ve even spent time creating the perfect thumbnails and adding subtitles for those watching with the volume off. Your hashtag game is strong, you’re encouraging comments and likes within the first minute and you’re publishing your posts at the right time. So that’s it, right? You’ve cracked Instagram and should keep doing exactly what you’re already doing in 2019? Wrong. All of that is great but what about your caption? Copy on Instagram is important. It’s another way for people to experience the content, to dive deeper into a subject or add a personal touch not found in your video. For example a one minute cinematic master piece is fantastic, but a one minute cinematic masterpiece with good accompanying copy which talks about how you created it, who you worked with on it or simply goes deeper into the topic at hand is even better.

This is the most specific item on this list but it is important. The more elements you can have working together the better and the one that seems to be most overlooked (particularly) on Instagram is the copy.

Audio

Whether you have an Alexa skill or a short form podcast on SoundCloud, you should almost certainly introduce audio into your content strategy. Its passive consumption makes it perfect to reach your audience in a convenient way. Audio requires less focus and allows us to go about our day whilst still consuming the content and if you’re able to penetrate an audience with audio, when they do have time to sit and watch a video or read an article they’ll be more inclined to offer their valuable time to you rather than someone else. If you’re not already paying attention to audio you should definitely do so in 2019. More and more people are starting to realise its potential and you’ll be let behind if you don’t make a change.

Messaging Apps

Currently using email? How are your 28% open rates working for you? Well what if you could take those open rates up to 80%? With direct messaging through apps such as Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp it’s very possible to reach these astonishingly high numbers. But it won’t stay that way forever as more marketers start using these apps consumers will get fed up with companies bombarding them and just like email will start to open less and less of their messages. Thankfully we’re a long way off the dismal open rates of email. And so many people are overlooking messaging apps that marketers who get on bored now will have a distinct advantage and reap the benefits of this incredible white space.

But don’t scrap your email list either. The open rates are awful but they don’t leave you at the mercy of platform changes from Facebook which could occur any time.

Separate yourself from the crowd this year by paying attention to these huge growth areas which your competitors are overlooking. Whether you’re building a personal brand or are trying to grow a business these three areas will help bolster your content marketing efforts and give you the edge over the competition.
